Question by kevinbargas:
A credit card was offered for making timely payments on my auto loan.Would accepting this card help my credit?
I have bad credit, but I managed to purchase a new automobile with a high interest rate. My auto loan is through Capital One. The credit card offer is from Capital One because I have made timely payment to them on the loan for 1 year. Would accepting the card help raise my FICO score or hinder it? I thought that applying for new credit cards lower the score.

Can a person get a automobile loan without a credit card or line of credit?

IS IT FINANCIALLY SOUND TO PAY OFF AN 8% CAR LOAN WITH A 3.9% CREDIT CARD OFFER?

Question by Mark C:
Is it financially sound to pay off an 8% automobile loan with a 3.9% credit card offer?
I often get in the mail checks to borrow money from a credit card for a low interest percentage for the life of the loan. It seems like it might make sense to pay off my automobile by putting it on a credit card. Is this wise or foolish?
Q&A: SO I HAVE A 12% CAR LOAN THAT I AM UPSIDE DOWN IN. NOBODY WILL REFINANCE ME. BUT, I HAVE A 6.7% CREDIT CARD?

Question by WD:
So i have a 12% automobile loan that i am upside down in. Nobody will refinance me. BUT, i have a 6.7% credit card?
I have great credit, but i can’t refinance(i’ve tried, even with my own bank with 5k in savings!), i have nothing for collateral. So… since i have 6.7% rate on my credit card, would not it be smarter to start carrying a credit card balance at 6.7% and paying off the extra money on my automobile payment? Or am i going to pay 12% no matter how fast i pay it off?
Like for instance for every dollar that’s on my credit card, i pay that extra on top of my minnium automobile payment, does that make sense?
say i spent $ 200 on some bills/food/gas and just pay the $ 10 minnium… but in return send an extra $ 190-200 on my automobile loan? 12% vs 6.7% i’ll take the 6.7%… over the next 3+ years of my payments. that’s a lot of money i’d save

Q&A: TAKING A LARGER CAR LOAN TO PAY OFF A CREDIT CARD LOAN?
Nov 26th
Question by jtbryant12:
Taking a larger automobile loan to pay off a credit card loan?
I’m about to purchase a new car. I should be able to get a fixed rate of no higher than 6%. I have a few thousand in CC debt at 11.5%. Should I take a higher amount on my automobile loan to completely pay down the credit card? I have calculated the extra in the monthly payment and it’s less than what I am paying on the card. However, I am worried there are some other drawbacks I am not realizing. Thanks
I would pay off the card first if I had a choice.
However, my automobile is very close to dead and I need a new one (not new new but still need a loan).
CAN YOU PAY YOUR ONLINE BILLS WITH A DEBIT CARD?
Nov 2nd
Question by kb:
Can you pay your on the web bills with a debit card?
I usually pay my bills on the web and it deducts from checking account using my Routing Number and Account Number. I would like to start paying with my debit card, since I can earn “reward points” for using it, even to pay bills. I am not sure how to do this, because when I go into change my bank account info, there’s no place to add a debit card, just a routing number and checking account number.
Any suggestions?
THanks!
My bills i pay on the web – Automobile payment, automobile insurance, energy, credit card, student loans, cable…
HOW CAN I BUILD MY CREDIT IF I CAN’T GET A CREDIT CARD OR CAR LOAN?
Apr 28th
Question by Ian C:
How can I build my credit if I can’t get a credit card or automobile loan?
I recently graduated from College, and was in need of a new(er) automobile so I went to two different dealerships to try and get a car. They each ran my credit at like 3-4 different places, and I was rejected from every one. (Keep in mind this was in the late summer when the banks were in the process of going under.)
I have only had a credit card shared that was shared with my parents, I rarely used it, and I do not think it applied to my credit. I applied to Chase and Capital One and was rejected even though I applied for poor/decent credit score cards. AND I am debt free…
So my questions are, how can I get a credit card or small automobile loan if I do not have much credit? How long will it take for those credit checks to go off my record? And can I do my own credit check on the web without being penalized (again) for it?
Thanks!
