I’m only 21, I am a full-time student and a part time worker averaging 21-30 hours a week. I have only 2 credit cards that are no were near being maxed out. Is getting a automobile loan a stupid idea, or should I go for it.

Where do you think is the ideal place to get a decent size loan, (about 7-8 thousand) for a car? I live in texas, and I go to college fulltime but I need a loan to get a car. I have a good down payment, but I want to just tell the dealer, okay I have 8k, I want a good new car. I think capitalone is good but I need to have 1500 montly income and I have like 600 of income a month. What is a good site for college students with good credit to get an on the web loan?

I just called my local bank, Frost Bank, and asked them what thier criteria was and she told me something about your “Debt to income, cant be more than 40%” does this sound right? I didnt apply over the phone I just wanted to know what thier requierments were because Ive been thier with them for 2 years.
Currently I take the bus. I I have a son and its not a “oh im cool look at my car” I do need to get him to daycare. I really need a safe automobile that is reliable from a dealer not a private.
